Drivers' Education Information
You may take drivers' education or drivers' training in a public
school or in a state licensed, professional driving school.
Drivers' Education & Drivers' Training courses must be conducted as prescribed
by the DMV.
Drivers' Education must consist of a DMV approved professional classroom,
with no more than seven hours of class taught in one day.
Drivers' Training must consist of at least six hours of behind-the-wheel training
with a professional licensed instructor. No more than two hours of instruction
can be given in any one day.
Professional schools & instructors in California are licensed
by the DMV. Schools must carry liability insurance, be bonded, & must maintain
complete records for DMV inspection. Their teaching cars are subject to inspection
every 6 months to a year. Instructors must pass qualifying examinations every
three years, or show proof of continued traffic safety.
Precision Driving School Offers 2 choices in Drivers Education.
2-Day Drivers' Education-
This all-new, 2-day Drivers' Education class was written by Precision Driving School and is the first 2-day course of this type approved by the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Precision Driving School is the FIRST school to offer this fantastic program! The student will spend Day One in the classroom from 9-5. At the end of Day One the students will be given a take-home packet to read. They will have several days to read through the information. They return for Day Two in the classroom from 9-4 to complete the course. Students will reap the benefits of an instuctor without losing 4 entire days to the classroom. While all of the information is important, the most critical portions of the curriculum are covered in the two days of classroom time under the supervision of a knowledgeable instructor who is also a retired Deputy Sheriff. The students will take several quizzes and see movies to help prepare them for DMV's written test. Students taking the 2-day course must pass a written test on the last day with a 70% or better to receive the certificate of completion.
On-line Drivers' Education-
We offer on-line Drivers' Education through WelcomeDriver.com. WelcomeDriver.com is the first DMV approved, on-line Drivers' Education course & the only on-line Drivers' Education course approved by the Califorina Driving School Association. We do understand that some students have busy schedules that do not allow time for classroom Drivers' Education. This is why we offer on-line Drivers' Education. WelcomeDriver.com is a self-paced, 30 hour, DMV approved driver's education on-line course. This course has 29 different lessons--useful to help students become safe drivers. It follows the DMV's required curriculum for students getting a permit. This extensive course is filled with visual learning aides such as on-line movies and actual photographs. The course also has information for your teen on drugs & alcohol, their effects and consequences. Even after the student completes the course, WelcomeDriver.com allows the student to review the course and take practice tests for a full 61 days before the student's registration expires. Students must pass a written test with a 70% or better to receive the certificate of completion.
